TLC: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
LaDale Whaley: I am a very creative person. I started teaching design courses in 2008 for
ITT Technical Institute in Maumee, OH. Teaching led to my passion for working in the education industry. After searching for the perfect Masters program, I found Full Sail University in 2010. Full Sail merged my passion for design and teaching with the desire to use them in the education industry, and introduced me to the Instruction Technology field.
TLC: How do you support the Faculty members at UTHSC?
LW: I am an Academic Technology Consultant for the TLC. I am here to help faculty increase student engagement through the use of various Academic Technologies in their courses. I am also currently the Qualtrics, Responds and Proctor U contact for the campus.
TLC: What are some upcoming trends in Academic Technology that you are excited about sharing with our community?
LW: I must admit that I am a tech-nerd. I always enjoy learning and exploring new technologies. The most recent being Adobe Spark. I believe Adobe Spark is a great solution to student engagement. I am currently working on an Adobe Education Trainer Certification and have titled my project, “Using Adobe Spark to Create Engaging Content”. Adobe Spark is a great way to present concepts, ideas and information to an audience. I believe it is a great tool to add to your digital toolbox!
I am also currently representing the UTHSC community as member of the UDL in Higher Ed. Southeastern Symposium Committee. This committee works to bring knowledge, best practices and the implementation of Universal Design Learning (UDL) to Higher Education.
